Frequently Asked Questions
Whether you're thinking about becoming
a first-time Lab owner or you're just curious about what makes
Foxhill special, you've probably got some questions that have
occurred to other people, too. For your convenience, we've compiled
a collection of the questions (and our best shot at answers)
that we've heard most often over the past few years.
Q: Do Labs get along well with kids?
- Oh, yes!
It's hard to imagine a breed that's better with kids! Reid, the
webmaster for Foxhill's web site, has had two Labs in residence
when new babies joined the family. His first female black Lab,
Missy, was about two years old when his son was born into a family
that included two other kids, ages 6 and 9. Missy instantly claimed
ownership of the baby, and never showed any jealousy or uneasiness
with the baby. They were best buddies for the rest of Missy's
life (she lived to age 14). Needless to say, Missy had always
gotten along beautifully with the older kids, too.

- Reid is now the proud owner of Hobbes,
a male yellow Lab from Foxhill Kennels, and that
6-year-old daughter mentioned above is now 30-something and just
had her first baby, Mason. Mason is spending his weekdays
at Reid and Beth's house while his mom works. If a picture can
speak a thousand words, then these pictures
of Hobbes and Mason could probably
serve as a PhD dissertation on the question of how
a Lab gets along with a baby.
Q: Where is Foxhill Kennels, really?
- Well, okay - it's not exactly on Main Street.
We're close to New Stanton, PA, which is at the intersection of I-70
and I-76 (the PA Turnpike). Although our mailing address is Ruffs Dale,
we're not exactly there, either - but you'd probably never find Ruffsdale
anyway. To
help, we've posted a map (which you can zoom bigger or smaller) that
shows pretty much where we are. If you're
serious about coming to visit, drop Diane an email message or call the
number listed at the bottom of the page for detailed driving directions.
We'd love to have you drop by!
